MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF PSC
Portland blast Furnace Slag Cement (PSC) as per IS: 455 is manufactured by inter grinding a mixture of slag from a blast furnace (25 to 65%) and clinker manufactured for making ordinary Portland cement as per as IS: 269 (70 to 30%) along with gypsum natural or chemical (3 to 5%) or calcium sulphates, or by an intimate and uniform blending of Portland cement and finely ground granulated slag. So that the resultant mixture would produce cement capable of complying with required specification. The latter process has the following advantages.
- The grinding process is more efficient.
- Product quality is under better control.
- Better storage properties that OPC.
- Workability can be significantly improved, or water: cement ratio is reduced
The cement thus produced shall comply the requirements of IS: 455-1989, for PSC with the following chemical requirements.
PERCETAGE (MAX)
Magnesium Oxide (MgO). 8.0
Sulphide Sulphur (S) 3.0
Loss on ignition. (LOl). 5.0
Insoluble Residue. 4.0
MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF OPC
Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) 33 grade as per IS: 269 is manufactured by intimately mixing together calcareous and argillaceous and/or other silica, alumina or iron oxide bearing materials, burning them at a cement capable of complying with this specification. No material shall be added after burning, other than gypsum (natural and chemical) or water or both, and not more than one-percent of air containing agents or other agents, which are proved not to be harmful.
In accordance with the methods given in IS 4032 - 1985, 33 grade Ordinary Portland Cement shall comply with following chemical requirements. PERCENT (Max/Min)
Ratio of (%) of lime to % of silica, alumina, and iron oxide. 102 Max. and Min.
Ratio of (%) of alumina to that or iron oxide. 0.66 Min.
Magnesia, % by mass. 6 Max.
Insoluble residue, % by mass. 4 Max.
Sulphur content . 2.5 and 3.0 Max.
Loss on ignition. 5Max.
LABORATORY TESTING
Kamakhya Cement Industry has a highly sophisticated and modernised laboratory adjacent to the plant for the purpose of undertaking Chemical and Physical Analysis to obtain 100% fine quality product having reliable and accurate testing process. Reliable and accurate testing of cement forms an integral part of quality control and quality assurance in cement manufacture and its applications.
The following are the some of the measures adopted –
# We are having an internal quality assurance program and strictly adhere to it to maintain accuracy in test results.
# Satisfactory arrangements are made for feed back and corrective action.
# Testing equipment's used in laboratory is calibrated before being put into service in regular interval.
# Testing is done under strict control of environmental conditions as per relevant standards
